Neurologist positions Orange
An exciting opportunity exists for one or two full time and/or a part-time Neurologist/Neurophysiologists to
join Central West Neurology and Neurosurgery in Orange.
Central West Neurology and Neurosurgery offers the full range of neurological and neurophysiological
services with special interests including multiple sclerosis, neurodegenerative disease, and movement
disorders. The neurologists work closely with Specialist nurses in Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis.
Orange is a major regional neuroscience centre servicing a large area of inland NSW from the Blue
Mountains to far western NSW. There are currently four neurologists in the region, one of whom is now
only working part time and will be retiring from clinical practice at the end of 2017. The Orange Advanced
Trainee position is shared with Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and is a core ANZAN training position. Ongoing
medical education is facilitated by participation in the weekly Neurology Clinical meetings at Orange
General Hospital which is also attended by a Neurosurgeon on a fortnightly basis.
Orange is a major specialist referral centre. In our region there are two 3T MRIs and three 1.5T MRIs, as
well as high resolution CT angiography, SPECT/CT and other specialist imaging facilities and interventional
radiology support. Orange is a major educational centre with excellent schools and the University of
Sydney’s Rural Clinical School has a centre at Orange Hospital. It is also a major agricultural area and at
900m, a major cool climate wine making district. Orange has many excellent restaurants and provides an
extremely pleasant lifestyle whilst Sydney is only 3hours away by car. Orange also has regular air services to
Sydney.
Applicants who are interested in joining the team at Central West Neurology and Neurosurgery are
encouraged to discuss the position informally with the neurologists or contact Sue Gentles, Practice
Manager, for further information.
