Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Course
Learn how to practice mindfulness meditation to manage stress, anxiety and depression. This is
a 9-session skills-based course and NOT group therapy, even if the word therapy is in the title.
Is this course for me?
It is if you want to enhance your general physical and mental well-being and develop skills in
responding to the ups and downs of everyday living.
What will I learn?
You will develop skills to deal more effectively with the stresses and strains of daily living.
Increasing your skill of paying attention to what happens in the mind and body helps you to
learn about our own mind patterns and habits: including unhelpful ones. You will learn how to
identify your own warning signs early, before stress, anxiety and depression become too
overwhelming. This gives you an opportunity to make plans for how best to respond, rather
than react in old familiar and often unhelpful ways.
There will be a combination of guided meditation practices, theoretical teaching and, if you like,
opportunities to talk about your experiences. In between sessions there will be home practice
for approximately 40 minutes per day. You will receive guided meditation materials and
written handouts.
Suitability
To decide whether this MBCT course is right for you, please ask yourself the following
questions:
1. Can you commit to spending approximately 40 minutes of meditation practice per day?
2. If you have a history of anxiety and/or depression, has your mood been stable for 3
months prior to the course?
3. Do you have personal reasons for studying MBCT?
If you answered ‘Yes’ to all of the above, I encourage you to register.
