Account Request
You must request an email account to be setup by going to support.cns.msu.edu and create a ticket.
Technical Overview
CNS Exchange work with Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010. You must run Outlook over HTTPS over RPC. The following
instructions will help setup Outlook. The web version can be found at mail.cns.msu.edu

Outlook 2007 & 2010
1. Login into mail.msu.edu
2. Setup forwarding to [email protected]
3. Open the control panel and click on the
Mail icon.
4. Click on Show Profile
5. Create a new profile called Exchange

6. Click add
7. Name the new profile Exchange

Click Manually configure
Enter “mail.cns.msu.edu” for the server
Type just the last name
Click on more setting.
After clicking it may take some time
before you get an error. This error is
caused by the firewall protection the
Exchange box.

13. Enter CNS\userID and password supplied
to you by CNS support staff.
14. You may need to type this a few times.

15. Click on the Connection tab
16. Check the box for connect to Microsoft
Exchange using HTTP
17. Click Exchange Proxy Settings
18. Enter “mail.cns.msu.edu” in the URL
19. Add “msstd:mail.cns.msu.edu” in connect
using SSL only
20. Check the box for fast networks.
21. The full name should show up now. If it
does not chick check name.
22. You have setup up the mailbox.

24. We are finding that on some old PC’s
Logon network security, under the
Security Tab, needs to be set to NTLM.
