Program Selection for Significant Cognitive and Memory Problems First make sure you watch the short quick start video that shows you how to start a program. The video is located here: http://www.parrotsoftware.com/mobile/help/quickstart/index.html These instructions are for the person who generally speaks using complete utterances but has a reduced vocabulary and occasionally cannot retrieve one or more words. This person knows what they want to say but occasionally cannot get the words out. When starting you will see the following screen: Click the Start button and you will see the Program Menu which is a list of program categories. It is pictured below. When you click on a category you will see a list of the programs within that category. We suggest that you use the first category: Easy Confidence Building Programs to get the user familiar with what is expected. Here is a list of the programs within that category: Click on any of the programs within this category. You will see a lesson selection screen. Choose a lesson by clicking it. You will then see the opening program screen. Click on the Instructions button in the upper left corner to see what is expected. Click the ‘X’ in the instructions box to remove the instructions. Finally click the large button that says Click here to start and go through the lesson. Stay in this category only as long as it takes for the user to get familiar with using our programs. After the user is familiar with using a program, start using the programs specific to the user’s needs. For Significant Cognitive and Memory problems start with the Cognitive Reasoning category pictured below. The programs with the red dots are most appropriate for users with Significant Cognitive and Memory problems. Another useful category is titled Memory and Attention pictured below. The programs with the red dots are most appropriate for users with Significant Cognitive and Memory problems.
