Training & work skills
Our aim is to offer our trainees (aged 16+) stimulating
activities and support in order to enhance their personal
development and improve their quality of life. We are able
to offer everyone a tailor made service to suit their needs
and goals and operate from two allotment sites in
Berkhamsted and Northchurch and the Hemel Food
Garden in Hemel Hempstead.
Our current range of support includes opportunities to:
We have been working with adults with learning
disabilities for over 20 years offering real work experience
through supported placements of one to five days a week
from our sites in Berkhamsted, Northchurch and Hemel
Hempstead. Each individual is supported to learn valuable
skills in various aspects of horticulture and practical
activity including:
Gain valuable work skills
Undertake training in horticulture and conservation
Grow flowers, fruit, vegetables, herbs, plants and
much more
Develop skills in woodwork, craft, art, and other
creative activities

Our Vision

We offer a range of external contracts and services to the
public and local businesses:
Undertake training in PAT testing
food growing and harvesting; growing bedding and other
plants, planting and creating hanging baskets/planters;
site maintenance; conservation tasks; wood work –
making raised beds, seats; PAT testing, painting walls,
fencing work, art and natural crafts. In addition we also
offer poultry care and making preserves at specific sites.
Our vision and values
Contracts and Services
• bespoke allotment and garden makeover including:
putting up sheds, fencing and gates, digging over,
weeding, pruning and more.
• “Sparks” professional PAT testing service for local
businesses, charities and organisations to carry out
their annual electrical check-up.
• Made to order garden planters, hanging baskets and
other planting supplies
• Garden and planting maintenance services
• We also have rooms and facilities for hire for meetings,
events or training.

Produce & Products
We aim to offer hand-grown fresh produce all
year round, farmed from our allotments to
organic principles. We also sell eggs laid by
our happy hens at Northchurch, juice made
from the apples in our orchard and preserves
made from our fruit. As produce is seasonal
the variety on offer changes from month to
month.
