Job Description Title: Deputy Play Manager Department: Ty AVOW, Wrexham Accountable to: Play Department Manager Hours: Average 37 per week Salary Scale £19,624.80 Pension: 8% Employer Contribution, optional employee contribution Location: Wrexham County Borough The funding for this post is from Welsh Government This is a fixed term post (depending on outcomes achieved) provisionally to the end of January 2015 Job Context Aim: To be responsible for ensuring staff, children and young people have access to a wide range of play resources with which to facilitate a range of play opportunities as part of a rich play environment. To deputise for the manager in their absence and to support the manager in all other areas of their work. Main duties and responsibilities To identify, access and organise additional play resources, include junk materials, to support the delivery of stimulating and challenging play opportunities within Wrexham County. To act as the senior worker in charge on the play projects in the absence of the playground manager. To provide monthly supervisions To plan and organise the delivery of play opportunities and other activities associated with the play projects. 1 To support the ongoing participation of children, young people, their families and the wider community in the development of the play projects. In conjunction with the manager, to support the continuous development of staff and volunteers working on any of the play projects. To support staff in implementing the quality assessment processes. To contribute towards raising the profile of play within the local community and across the county borough as a whole. To liaise with families to ensure registration details of children are kept up to date and are regularly reviewed. To ensure up to date registers are kept and filed accordingly. To assist in the completion of appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems. To ensure policies and procedures are followed, to contribute to the maintenance of a safe, stimulating environment. To act within accordance of all departmental Policies and Procedures. To identify barriers to children accessing the playground and suggest ways of negotiating these. Maintain close working relationships with relevant local organisations and other play providers across the county borough. To keep appropriate records of work undertaken and provide regular evaluations and reports. To work evenings and weekends as required. To maintain confidentiality of personal information. General Other responsibilities, which may be negotiated from time to time, which are commensurate with the level and nature of the post. The post will require a degree of flexibility, in particular working outside of normal office hours. The post will require travel within Wrexham County Borough and occasional travel to other areas. 2
