For 45 years, Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts has distinguished itself as
an artistic, educational, and economic resource for the Washington, D.C. region and
beyond. More than 400,000 people flock to its three unique venues every year to enjoy
a vast array of high-quality entertainment. Wolf Trap’s programming includes
esteemed classical music, operas, musical theatre, dance and comedy programs, as
well as pop, rock, indie, jazz, country, and R&B music. Wolf Trap has commissioned
more than 70 new works, and Wolf Trap Opera is renowned for its outstanding
professional training and lush performances.
Wolf Trap Foundation provides educational opportunities to more than 78,000 children
and teachers annually, and expands access to the arts by providing nearly 6,000 free
tickets to area organizations that serve disabled or under-served children and adults.
The Wolf Trap Institute and its arts integrated strategies have proven successful in
promoting school readiness among children who live in economically disadvantaged
circumstances. The Institute’s Early Childhood STEM Learning Through the Arts
program has drawn national attention for its use of the arts to teach math and science
fundamentals to preschool and kindergarten students. The effectiveness of this
program in Fairfax County was the subject of an extensive U.S. Department of
Education funded research study. In addition, Wolf Trap’s popular and highly
competitive internship program provides hands-on training in arts management for
college students and recent graduates.
