As vets, we believe in offering a complete health care service. It is
our job to make pets better when they are unwell, but also to help
them stay healthy in the first place.
Prevention is better than cure
Obviously not every disease can be avoided, but
by keeping out preventative health care up to
date, we can keep our pets healthy for as long
as possible. Preventative health care includes
vaccinations and parasite (flea and worm)
treatment.
It also includes dental care, exercise, diet…
There are so many things to consider when
keeping a pet healthy and we are always
happy to give advice, whether about pet
behaviour, or how to brush their teeth, or
what diet to feed. The world of pet food can
feel overwhelming with so many options, and
we get many questions from people getting

breeders and the internet.

Nuws in brief…
Here’s a brief roundup of what’s been happening at NuVet:
Our wonderful head nurse Jo and her husband Steve welcomed baby Edwin to the world on 19th
June. Congratulations! We know Jo will be the world’s best mum if she looks after Edwin half as well as
she looks after us!
Several of our nurses are studying towards external qualifications.
- Becky has been accepted onto the CEPT Advanced Certificate in Veterinary
Physiotherapy in September
- Jenni is working towards her British Small Animal
Veterinary Association Merit Award in Medical Nursing
- Nikitia has recently gained a place
on the prestigious Diploma in Advanced
Veterinary Nursing.
We are very sad to say goodbye to our vet
Maddie and our receptionist Jess. Jess is now
working for the charity SENSE and Maddie is taking
a break from clinical practice. We wish them both
luck for the future.

As the nights draw in, it is easy to do
a little less exercise, eat a little more
food and let the pounds creep on. It

Obesity is a huge problem in pets.
Today, nearly half the pets seen by
vets are overweight. Carrying extra
weight can cause serious health and
welfare problems, and make existing
problems worse. This can reduce the
length and quality of a pet’s life by

We’re open for appointments every day
of the week, so you can plan your visits to
suit both you and your family. We’re open
Monday to Friday 8.30 am – 7 pm (8 pm
on Wednesdays) Saturday 9 am – 12.30
pm and Sunday 10 am – 12 pm.
