For families and their pets 01733 333 444 www.nuvet.co.uk ISSUE 6 As vets, we believe in offering a complete health care service. It is our job to make pets better when they are unwell, but also to help them stay healthy in the first place. Prevention is better than cure Obviously not every disease can be avoided, but by keeping out preventative health care up to date, we can keep our pets healthy for as long as possible. Preventative health care includes vaccinations and parasite (flea and worm) treatment. It also includes dental care, exercise, diet… There are so many things to consider when keeping a pet healthy and we are always happy to give advice, whether about pet behaviour, or how to brush their teeth, or what diet to feed. The world of pet food can feel overwhelming with so many options, and we get many questions from people getting conflicting advice from friends, family, breeders and the internet. 01733 333 444 www.nuvet.co.uk To keep things simple, we are now offering a new range of vet only pet food for dogs and cats: SPECIFIC. This is a tried and tested pet food that offers scientifically balanced nutrition in a simple and cost-effective form. We have tried it on our pets and they love it: we hope your pets will love it too! (In the unlikely event they do not, we offer a 100% money back guarantee!) See more about SPECIFIC later in the newsletter. So, remember, we are here to keep your pets in tip top condition – any questions or worries about anything related to your pet, please give us a call Mar wan and the nuVet team Nuws in brief… Here’s a brief roundup of what’s been happening at NuVet: Our wonderful head nurse Jo and her husband Steve welcomed baby Edwin to the world on 19th June. Weigh in Wednesdays As the nights draw in, it is easy to do a little less exercise, eat a little more food and let the pounds creep on. It is the same for our pets! Obesity is a huge problem in pets. Today, nearly half the pets seen by vets are overweight. Carrying extra weight can cause serious health and welfare problems, and make existing problems worse. This can reduce the length and quality of a pet’s life by up to 2 years. Some serious medical conditions associated with obesity are: Diabetes Heart disease Respiratory distress High blood pressure Cancers Arthritis The good news is that this is a problem we can help you fix. We can help keep your pet happy and healthy. Please contact the surgery for your FREE Weigh-In Wednesday nurse consultation.
