A Light Less Ordinary
During his landmark address*1 in 2006, Professor Peter Boyce*2 stated that :
Current lighting practice is justified by the need to ensure good visibility and avoid visual discomfort.
Lighting can be classified as bad, indifferent and good.
Providing good visibility and avoiding visual discomfort are actions necessary to provide indifferent
lighting but are not sufficient to guarantee good lighting.
We need to educate the purchasers and users of lighting about its benefits beyond visibility and visual
comfort.
