ABOUT MUFF
MUFF, also known as The Montreal Underground Film Festival, is an
independently run festival that celebrates and promotes low-budget filmmaking and
those who challenge the boundaries of mainstream Hollywood and the conventional
film aesthetic. MUFF takes place on the 17, 18 and 19th of May 2007, in Montreal and
it is run by its founders and local independent filmmakers, Zoë Brown and Karina
Mariano.
MUFF encourages confrontation of artistic freedom, through the experimentation of
filmmaking and art production, making the world a more exciting, challenging place
to live.
MUFF wants to expose artists and filmmakers’ wealth of visual aesthetics and
experimentation process through film, video, and sound. Our goal is to host a variety
of genres ranging from stop motion documentaries to experimental documentaries,
from shorts to feature length films.
MUFF NEEDS:
I you are reading this, it probably means that we need your support for our festival.
We have several agendas in mind. The following are loosely based on what we are
looking for to make this event happen.
We encourage our audience to participate in our raffle draws to promote small
businesses and become familiar with local talent. So we are always looking to have
your community participation. It is important for you to know that we support our
cultural vibrancy and we want you to be included in our mandate.
You can do this by donating a CD or merchandise of your band, offering a gift
certificate for a hair cut at your salon, or dinner for two at your restaurant.
This not only helps you to promote your music, business, or art, it also helps MUFF
keep the attention of our audience and spread the word about what a grand and
diverse city we live in.
Last year we were blessed to have a wonderful abundance of local music, DVD
compilations of short films, artwork from local artists, dinner for two gift certificates,
as well as free editing from different local distribution and production houses.

What we can offer in exchange:
Depending on what you can offer, you will get various MUFF goodies. We can also
offer a link to your website on our website. We can promote your event, or band or
company a tour festival. Depending on your organization, your interest and your
needs we can talk about an exchange of services. The possibilities are endless and we
are open to suggestions, just ask us!
