Coach Code of Conduct
I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players,
managers and coaches (including those of an opposing team). This applies to every game,
practice, or any other CAFA events.
I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all umpires,
league officials and parents at every game or event.
I will place the emotional and physical well-being of all players on all teams ahead of any
personal desire to win.
I will insist that my players treat all other players, coaches, umpires, league officials, and
parents with the utmost respect.
I will focus on what each player CAN do – and not focus on what she CAN’T do – in order to
be a successful team.
I realize that each player brings a different type of skill-set and will not confuse talent level
with lack of effort.
I will ensure that there is ongoing dialogue with each of my players regarding their
progression throughout the season by providing honest feedback to their performance and
developmental needs.
I will work to my fullest capacity to make sure all my players are developing their skills in a
competitive playing environment.
I will not show favouritism within my team.
I will ensure that my players and parent volunteers are in a safe and healthy environment.
I will demand a drug, alcohol, and tobacco-free sports environment for my players.
I will remember that CAFA softball is for the players and not for the adults.
I will do all I can to make the games and practices fun for all the players, but I will set out my
expectations in regards to commitment, sportsmanship, work ethic and being a good
teammate.
I will ensure that I am following respectful use of social media and ensure my parents and
players are following respectful use of social media.
I will commit to improving myself as a coach by continually educating myself about the
game through clinics and other resources.
