EU Commission promotes solar energy
Elster Kromschröder provides the necessary equipment
Osnabrück, March 2008. Since the EU commission submitted a draft for a Directive to encourage
renewable energies in January 2008, it has become clear that: above all, solar technology will be
greatly promoted in the years to come.
The proportion of renewable energies is supposed to increase from 8.5 to 20%, with solar energy
accounting for the lion’s share. The Italian development concept, which to-date has already advanced
the development of solar energy further than in most other European States, will therefore boost the
solar energy market. In a few years, the installation of thermal solar systems in new buildings and
renovations will have become the norm.
To be able to use the sun effectively, the corresponding technology is required, however.
Differential controller LagoSD3 from the Lago series by Elster Kromschröder has been specially
designed for controlling solar systems. It is an intelligent control unit featuring modern digital
technology with up to 5 sensors which are used to allow for the creation of two differential
temperatures between the buffer storage and the heat generator, be this a solar system or solid fuel
boiler. This makes it possible for up to three circulation pumps to be activated at the same time. The
unit is configured automatically on selection of one of twelve preset system diagrams, which then
automatically proceeds to set the basic parameters.
Another important element in Elster Kromschröder’s product range is the system controller Merlin5064
V3.
The system controller’s illuminated, alphanumeric matrix display guides the user through the settings
levels in the language of his choice; the respective selection option being displayed in text form.
Therefore, the parameter assignment process for the wide range of functions offered by this controller is
designed to be especially user-friendly. The system controller Merlin5064 V3 is configured via a system
selection function that automatically preconfigures all the relevant settings.
In addition to the standard functions of the system controller Merlin5064 V3, it is also possible to
integrate a solar system for process water heating and heating support. Furthermore, the convenience
is guaranteed beyond the user-friendly application, by the fact that the product can be used both for
heating and cooling.
For this, as for all other Elster Kromschröder products, great value was placed on simple and userfriendly operation during the design phase. In this way, exploiting solar energy becomes an
uncomplicated and effective matter.
