Team Goal/Mission Statement: The main goal is to be able to effectively communicate and work interdependently as a team (both in-person and remotely) and be able to walk away from class with the knowledge and skills to apply these concepts in real life situations. Meetings The majority of meetings will take place remotely (via phone, text, and email). In-person meetings will take place as needed after class on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. o A progress report will be due from each team member and submitted to the team by email each Sunday no later than 10 PM. Team Norms Open Communication: share thoughts, ideas, and be respectful of each team member. Be prompt for meetings: both in-person and remotely. Be prepared: come with assignment completed, and open for critique and input for discussion. Vote determines team direction: all project decisions made in consensus as team. Documented meetings: minutes of the week’s meetings emailed to all members the following Sunday. All voices heard: each team member’s view point is a valid avenue to improve our project, add diversity, and an opportunity to learn. Performance All team members are expected to share tasks evenly. The separation of task roles will be discussed per task. o If a team member is dissatisfied with a role for a particular task then he or she must inform the team of the dissatisfaction within 2 days of being assigned a role. All team members are expected to perform at their optimal levels. All team members are expected to help each other within reasonable terms. o If any unexpected issues come up, it is that team member’s responsibility to inform at least one of the team members about the issue. It is also that team member’s responsibility to give that team member a reasonable way to be contacted. Differences of Opinions Each team member must be open to all suggestions, and give each other time and patience to express his or her opinions. If team members cannot agree on something, then one of the following methods can be used to solve the issue. o Majority vote. o Drawing ideas from a hat. o Bringing in an outside opinion. o Any other fair and unbiased way of choosing one person’s idea. Non-Cooperative Team Members Any team member who is non-cooperative will be given a chance to change his or her behavior. The following steps will be taken if a team member is non-cooperative. o The team will discuss their thoughts about the non-cooperative team member with that particular member. After the team has expressed themselves, the non-cooperative member will be given a chance to speak on his or her behalf. After the discussion, any miscommunication should be cleared up, and a plan should be worked out to help any team members that may be having trouble with their specific roles. If the behavior continues then the team members have two choices. o If the behavior is mild then they can choose to have another discussion with the non-cooperative team member. o If no effort by the non-cooperative team member has been taken to change his or her behavior, then the team members will discuss the issue with the teacher. o Any further issues see firing process. Firing Process 1st Warning - The team will sit down with the non-cooperative member and discuss the concerns that they have with that member. 2nd Warning - If the issue(s) continues after the 1st warning, the team will warn the noncooperative member again in another team meeting. 3rd Warning - The final warning would require the team to talk to the professor. After the third warning, the team members can discuss firing the non-cooperative member. Behaviors that would be reason for firing: o Consistently being late to a meeting without notifying at least one team member. o Failure to show up to a meeting, without a valid excuse or lack of notifying team members ahead of time. o Not sending tasks to the team by the deadline. o Being uncooperative with the team. o Doing work that is below maximum effort. o Any other reasonable reasons that the majority of team members decide. o Social loafing or free riders will not be tolerated. Please note that all members of the team must unanimously vote to fire the noncooperative team member. Any dissention among the team will void the firing.
