Role Profile 6th Tier Role Profile Role Details Job Title: LGV / Plant Mechanic Strategic Area: Place,Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Grade 6 (pending full job evaluation review) Hilton Depot Indicative Grade & Salary Range: Work Location: Strategic Service Grouping: Reporting to: Fleet Management Hours: 74 Hours (over a two week period) Workshop Shift Leader Role Purpose Service, repair and MOT preparation / testing of Fleet vehicles and Plant to ensure compliance and the legal operation of the Council’s fleet Provide excellent customer service, meeting all service level agreements and performance targets Continually improve service delivery and the performance of the Fleet Workshop Team, minimising operational risk Contribute to achievement of Workshop Team objectives and standards by supporting of team work and flexibility, contributing to the overall success of the Council. Work towards the continuous improvement of service delivery and performance of the Workshop Team. Role Accountabilities & Key Activities Operational Service Delivery Carry out service and repairs as per manufacturers and VOSA guidelines to ensure the safe and legal operation of the Councils fleet at all times. Attend breakdowns and out of hours’ emergency standby service duties as instructed, in the support of the fleet and customer front line service delivery, in compliance with service level agreement specifications. Accurately complete all Fleet & Legal documentation as instructed for the collation of maintenance, statutory and operational cost management. Undertake Vehicle & Plant steam cleaning required for MOT Preparation and Repairs to facilitate the thorough inspection and maintenance repairs to be completed. Undertake estimates for repairs including material & parts requisitions in order to establish costs and spend in conjunction with budget authorisation levels. Health & Safety Undertake all work in compliance with health & safety guidelines, safe systems of work and safe working practices for the continued safety of all employees and customers. Report all defective tools, equipment and plant machinery, and remove from service in line with operating procedures in compliance with provision and use of work equipment regulations. Maintain a safe working environment with a tidy as you go approach in order to minimise risks to all fleet customers, visitors and workshop personnel. Customer Service Delivery Communicate with key stakeholders in identifying and taking action to meet the needs of different customer groups. Consult regularly and seek feedback to improve overall service delivery to stakeholders. Manage customer expectations by responding and prioritising customer requests, taking account of other work demands. Support a customer focused culture in service delivery and improvement to enhance the performance of the organisation. Team Working & Relationships Support good working relationships by offering advice, encouragement and assistance to enhance overall team performance. Communicate within the Workshop Team by being open and approachable and developing working relationships with fellow team members.
