Qualification and Verification Test List

Procedure for Qualification of Carbon Fiber Strands
to be placed on VDOT Special Products Evaluation List (SPEL)
April 27, 2017
In order to be considered for placement on VDOT SPEL, a carbon fiber strand manufacturer must provide
information on the qualification tests listed below. VDOT Structure & Bridge, Research and Materials
will review these tests results and the values obtained on independent verification tests. These tests
results will then be compared to the initial values (acceptance range) obtained during research on carbon
fiber strands previously placed on the SPEL.
