1. Read the lab hand out for the
strawberry DNA lab.
2. Summarize in a step by step
manner how you will do the
strawberry DNA lab today?
1. Place the strawberry in the Ziploc bag.
2. Gently mush the strawberry. DO NOT hit
the bag.
3. Add extraction buffer.
4. Mush for 2 more minutes. DON’T forget to record
the data.
5. Put the coffee filter over the cup. Pour contents into
the filter. Let sit about 10 minutes.
6. Carefully squeeze the filter. Observe and record.
7. Pour liquid into the test tube.
8. Add the cold alcohol.
9. Record observations.
10. Remove DNA with a popsicle stick. Observe and record.
11. Clean all materials and throw away the Ziploc bag.
