The Air Cadet Organisation has been tasked by the RAF to host a flagship Aerospace Camp as part of the RAF 100 celebrations in 2018. In order to prepare for this, 2FTS at RAF Syerston will again host the National Aerospace Camp in August 2017. This week long camp will will be used to further mature the existing capability and act as a precursor to the following year’s RAF 100 Aerospace Camp. 2. The 2017 National Aerospace Camp will provide an opportunity to expand and enhance the training programme, together with providing the foundations for the potential Aaron Academy syllabus. The camp will be hosted by 2FTS at RAF Syerston, Nottinghamshire, and will begin at 12 noon on Saturday 19 August and finish by 12 noon on Saturday 26 August 2017. 3. This Order contains allocations for 220 cadets from the Air Training Corps and the RAF Combined Cadet Force. These are split between each Wing as detailed in Annex B. The National Aerospace Camp is open to all cadets from the ATC and CCF aged between 14 – 20 (as at 27 August 2017) who are interested in aviation and other aerospace industries. Cadets who are selected will be contacted directly via email to provide them with the Joining Instructions and to ask for their preference of programme activities nearer the time. This will include a variety of specialist aerospace, aviation and engineering training elements, as well as visits and activities with industry partners. 4. Planning is already underway for the RAF 100 Aerospace Camp in 2018 which will be significantly larger, and take place 18 to 25 August. The success of both the 2017 and 2018 camps are dependant on a strong staff team, which we are keen to build and embed during 2017. Each Wing is therefore asked to invite interested CFAV to contact the Camp Executive Team directly, where nominations will be accepted and confirmed upon submission. As well as this, each Wing is required to provide at least one member of staff to accompany their cadets on the camp. CFAV names should be submitted to [email protected] by 31 March 2017. 5. Wing HQs and/or Wing Aerospace Officers are asked to disseminate this information and encourage interested cadets to bid for a place to their Wing. Further information can be found on www.aerospace75th.org and a social media campaign will be used to promote the camp and encourage cadets to ask their Wing about applying. 6. Each Wing is responsible for undertaking an application process to sift and allocate their cadet places (as per Annex B). Wings are to ensure cadets are able to firmly commit to the dates and that they have an active interest in aerospace topics. The camp is not intended to be a substitute annual camp. 7. Each Wing HQ or Wing Aerospace Officer and the CCF are to email [email protected] with a competed Annex A by Friday 31 March 2017. ‘Nil returns’ are also required as places not accepted by 31 March will be re-allocated. Should Wings wish to identify a couple of reserves, these should be included in the same annex return. 8. Squadron Commanders are to ensure each cadet’s SMS record is up to date and that the information returned to Wing is correct. Following the return of cadet allocations from each Wing, Admin Orders will be distributed and will include the full list of cadets for confirmation. 9. Each Wing will be responsible for arranging travel for their own cadets. Should a cadet drop-out following allocation, the Camp Adjutant should be informed asap on [email protected]. Wings will not automatically have the right to fill the space of a drop-out with a reserve. 10. The cost of this camp will be £75 for cadets. Further details will be included in the Admin Orders. 11. The CCF allocation, and any application for these places, will be coordindated by Sqn Ldr CCF Graeme Johnston. A consolidated CCF return using Annex A should be provided to [email protected] by 31 March 2017. 12. Qualified Aerospace Instructor (QAI) cadets were fundamental to the success of the previous camps and will again play a key role this year. Their attendance will be coordinated by Course Directors and the Aerospace Camp Executive Team, and are considered separate to each Wing’s cadet allocation. The list of attending QAI cadets will accompany the Admin Orders. Wings are asked to provide their QAIs with travel support, e.g. travel warrants, if required. Tom T.
