CITY OF LEMOORE LEAF COLLECTION Leaf Pick Up Program will begin Monday, November 16, 2015 The leaf program is intended to help prevent street flooding, protect water quality in waterways and keep streets safe for cyclists, motorists and pedestrians. We ask residents to help us by following the guidelines below so we can provide the most thorough job as possible. The City of Lemoore is divided into five sections for leaf removal. A map is available on the City web site (Lemoore.com). The City has two specialized leaf equipment machines to collect the leaves from the street. Leaf volume, weather conditions and mechanical breakdowns make it impossible for the City to guarantee leaf collection on a specific day. If route cannot be completed on your pick up day, we will start the route at that location on the following week. Leaves can also be placed in your green waste container. Leaf pick up guidelines Leaves must be placed in roadway in a windrow 3 feet from curb and no higher than 12 inches to allow water to flow freely. Leaves should also be 15 feet away from any parked vehicle and away from trees with low hanging branches to allow access for equipment to maneuver. Keep leaf piles free of sticks, pine needles, branches, clippings and grass. Leaf machines are NOT designed for these items. Should the leaf machine become clogged due to debris mixed in with the leaves, the piles will be left behind to be disposed of in your green waste container. Leaf machines will not pick up leaves that are scattered on the roadway as they fall from trees. Leaves need to be raked in a pile. During leaf pick up please give way to the leaf equipment as they remove leaf piles throughout the City to help avoid any accidents or property damage. The leaf machine equipment will leave some debris. After collection is done the Street Sweeper will follow to do a clean up of the leaf debris. We would like to ask that residents help prevent flooding during the leaf collection by not putting out the leaves during rain. If possible, hold leaves or put in the green waste container. Leaf pick up will run through Friday, January 29, 2016. Leaves will need to be placed in your green waste container after that date. Leaves requested to be picked up after that date may be subject to extra pick up fees. Please call 924-6744 if you have any questions.
