MECAmaster works simultaneously with CATIA.
•
One just needs to open it when the CATIA Product is already opened. The MECAmaster’s
toolbar appears in front of CATIA.

We cannot work on several products at the same time.

When we open MECAmaster, it generates simultaneously a new MECAmaster product.
Each MECAmaster constraint is considered as a CATIA shape.
At each constraint modification (for example a value modification) MECAmaster generates a
new CATIA shape which must be saved.

CERN IS CURRENTLY EVALUATING MECAmaster
Training: 3 days training for “specimen” people has been done
(4x designers, 2x engineers, 1x GrACQ member).
Working stations: We can install MECAmaster on all
computers, but we have just ONE license on a USB key.
People working on: A new fellow works on MECAmaster at
50% wt. He will work on pilot jobs to evaluate the program.
Support: Currently, there is not a MECAmaster support at
CERN. Our support takes care only about problems related to
SMARTEAM and program installation.

- Make a whole MECAmaster assembly of complex systems
takes a lot of time.
- Difficult to create constraints which simulate the reality. It
does not manage the hyperstaticity.
- The results must be carefully interpreted. They are not
valid for qualification.
+ Very good for series productions. Quality manufacturing
class, statistics, feasibility, etc.
+ Very good to evaluate and improve the design.
+ Only program at CERN to do this kind of calculation!
