Step 2:
Making Your Presentation Folder
• Technical Information
 Benefits of sponsoring your team.
• Name on robot etc.
• Team Information
 Brief overview of your team and activities.
• FIRST Information
 First flyers or pamphlets.
• Letter Formally Requesting Sponsorship
 Should try and persuade company why investing in our
program is such a great choice.
 Aim high when requesting a specific sum of money.
(Won’t get what you don’t ask for)
Examples of Team Flyers
Step 3:
Making Contact
• Send one or two members to make contact
with the company.
• Request a meeting with the executive who
is in charge of community outreach or
sponsorship.
 Team members should be prepared to talk about
program with this executive.
• Be Sure to Stay Organized when doing this.
 Don’t contact a company twice (google docs.)
Step 3 Continued:
• Most often the executive will not be able to
meet with you.
 Leave behind folder with all your information.
 Get contact information for the executive who
will be reading your information.
Step 4:
The Follow Up
• If the exec doesn’t contact you after 3 to 4
days it is up to you.
 Send email or call the exec and say that you left
a folder for them to read, and that you would
like to meet with them to discuss the possibility
of sponsorship.
Step 5:
Getting The Sponsorship
• If the exec expresses interest in your
program.
 Send them all the information they request.
 Get a chance to meet with them in person to
present the idea of FIRST.
 Again request sponsorship of a certain amount.
