*Activity Directions*
Ghost in the Graveyard- First, select a home base for all the players to
return to and one player to be It, the ghost. The ghost must hide while all
other players count to 50. Their goal is to find the ghost, and when they do
they shout “Ghost in the graveyard!!”. When the players hear this their goal
is to run to the home base as quickly as possible without being tagged by
the ghost (the person who found the ghost is safe from tagging). Whoever
the ghost tags first is the ghost in the next round. If
the ghost is unable to tag anyone they are the ghost
again in the next round.
Paper Plate Scarecrow- Use paper plates, buttons,
yarn, felt/fabric cutouts, paper, and crayons or
markers to create scarecrows.
Motion Master-
Color Bulldog- One-three students volunteer or are chosen to be ‘bulldogs’.
The bulldogs stand in the center of the play area while all other students try
to run to the opposite end of the play area without being tagged. If a player
is tagged they become a bulldog too. For a shift, the bulldogs can choose a
color to call out, and only students wearing that color try to run across.
Leaf Monsters- Each student can gather their own leaf or leaves then use
paint, glue, googly eyes, yarn, paper, or any other art supplies to create leaf
monsters.
Million dollars but… Four Corners- Assign each corner of the room a number, and make sure
everyone knows the number. One person volunteers or is chosen to be It.
They stand in the middle of the room, close their eyes, and count to ten or
another specified number. While this player counts, all other players move
as quietly as they can to whichever corner they want. After the player who is
It is finished counting, they try to guess which corner has the most people
by listening to the sounds while counting. When they pick a corner, all
players in that corner are out. Play continues with the same It player until
there is only one player left, who is then It for the next round.
Apple Popsicle Sticks- Glue 4 popsicle sticks
in a square for the base of the apple, then fill in
the middle to create a complete square. Paint
popsicle sticks any color (have students pick
their favorite apple color!) then glue a stem and
a leaf on to complete the apple.
Charades- Students try to act out word or action without using any words
while all other players try to guess. It is helpful to start with actions written
out on slips of paper that students can draw from.
ShipwreckOne player or the leader is assigned as ‘Captain’. Their role is to call out
actions and dismiss players who break character or don’t do actions quickly
enough. Possible commands are:
• Captain's Coming: Everyone stands at "attention" (in a salute), and they
can’t move from this position until the caller says, "At Ease!" If they
laugh or break from the attention, they are dismissed.
• To the ship: Players run to the right.
• To the shore: Players run to the left.
• Man Overboard: One person drops to one knee the other stands behind

them, puts a hand on their shoulder. Both scan the ocean for the
overboard man.
Crow’s Nest: Three players stand backs to each other and lock arms at the
elbows to form the crow’s nest.
Mess Table: Four players squat in a circle like sitting at table and pretend
to eat like they haven't eaten in days.
Walk the Plank: Five people stand in a single file row hands on the
shoulders of person in front of them.
Mermaid: each player individually thrust out right hip, places right hand on
that hip, takes left hand and makes a big exaggerated wave and yells
out "howdy sailor!".
Apple Stamping- Cut apples in half, then students can paint them and use
them as a stamp to create apple art. They can also add leaves or stems once
the paint has dried.
Finger Painting Tree- Create a large tree outline with plenty of room for all
students to put their finger prints on branches. Students can paint their
fingers and thumbs fall colors to create leaves on the tree and/or fallen
leaves below the tree.
This is how I say hello…Line Tag- On a gym court, designate one person to be It. This game works
the same as regular tag, but all players can only run on the lines.
Oil/Crayon Science-
