NOVEMBER EVENTS AT THE FORT BEND MUSEUM INCLUDE
HISTORIC WALKING TOUR AND ‘PLAYING IN THE PAST’
Richmond – The Fort Bend Museum has two special Saturday events coming up in November.
The first, a walking tour of historic Richmond, will be led by Education Coordinator Jessica Avery
on Saturday, November 14 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The tour will feature little-known facts about
several Morton Street and downtown structures, including the Fort Bend County Courthouse.
“Did you know that the clock on the courthouse used to be wound by hand?” Avery asked. “It cost
eight dollars and thirty-three-and-a-third cents a week for a guy to hand-wind it.”
The tour will cost $8 for members of the Fort Bend County Museum Association and $10 for the
general public.
On the next Saturday (November 21), the Museum will offer another round of “Playing in the
Past,” a program designed especially for children to learn, play and explore history through handson activities—including making cornhusk dolls, playing historic games and learning how to build a
log cabin. Cameras are encouraged!
The cost for “Playing in the Past” is a $2 supply fee plus admission; the event will take place
between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Museum is located at 500 Houston Street in Richmond.
