Questions
Into the Bible:
Have you, like Peter, ever chosen to follow Jesus and
returned to the old life?
Was life ultimately fulfilling and satisfying in your
striving apart from Jesus?
How does Peter’s catch of fish without Jesus and
with Jesus show us what will truly satisfy?
Digging Deeper:
Is it possible to be successful by the world’s standards and still be empty
if you do so apart from Jesus?
Why do you think Jesus’ holds us with an open hand?
Why do you think he allowed Peter to buy a boat and attempt fishing
before He showed up on the scene?

“Now, follow me.”
Matthew 4:18-20, Luke 5:1-11, John 1:42; 21:1-25
In completing the Gospel of John the question before us today is
what do we do with what we now know and have learned?
1. Jesus has a plan to make you someone ____________ just
like Simon.
Simon’s old life did not ____________________ any more.
2. Real _____________________________ and fulfillment cannot be
found outside of following Jesus.
Jesus doesn’t want to just deal with _______ of Simon Peter’s sins and
shortcomings. He wants to deal with _________ of them. He wants to
deal with his lack of genuine love. He wants to deal with his failure
to stand up for Jesus when it might cost him his life. He wanted to
deal with Peter trading in Jesus for his old life.
3. No matter who you are or what you have done. The call
is the same for you: ____________________________________.
4. God has a _____________________ design and call for all of us.
Where He leads we ____________.
Where He stops we _____________.
What He says we ______________.
