Edmodo: A Student Guide to Getting Started
Signing Up
To create an Edmodo account, visit http://olatheschools.edmodo.com and select the “I’m a Student” button
on the homepage.
Creating Your Profile and Setting Notifications
To add a picture to your profile, select Account > Settings on the top right corner of your homepage,
then select Choose File to upload a photo. You can choose from Edmodo provided icons or upload your
own that is appropriate.
Set your notifications: From the Notifications drop down on the Settings page, choose Text Message or
your email address or None to set the method by which you prefer to be notified of new messages,
assignments, and alerts.
To add more information about yourself, select Profile in the top menu bar, then choose the
appropriate tab to select the way you like to learn and your career goal.
Check the boxes for which
you would like to receive
notifications.
Posting Messages
Once you have created an account and joined a group, you can post messages to the entire group or just your
teacher. You cannot post messages to each other. From the post bubble at the top of your Edmodo home
page, simply type a message, attach a file or link to a website or video, type the name of the teacher or group
you want to send it to, and click Send. You can also reply to group posts by selecting the Reply button and
typing a message. *Remember the posting guidelines when posting anything on Edmodo.
Assignments and Grades
The Grades tab will not be utilized by the Orion teachers so please continue to keep track of your grades by
the methods used in your courses all year (paper grade updates, ParentAccess, grade sheets, etc.)
Mobile Apps
Edmodo offers a mobile website that is available via any Internet enabled mobile device at
m.edmodo.com
Edmodo offers a full-featured application for Android devices available for free from the Android App
Marketplace.
Edmodo offers a full-featured application for iPhone and iPod Touch available for free from the iTunes
App Store.
