127A POLYCARBONATE TRANSLUCENT WALL CLADDING TO WALLS





Bearing width: Intermediate: Minimum 60mm, Vertical joint: Minimum 130mm.
Manufacturer and reference: Kingspan Insulated Panels, horizontally-laid translucent polycarbonate wall light
system for standard internal and external environments.
 Profile reference: Kingspan Day-Lite Architectural, KS1000 DLAWP, integrating with AWP insulated wall
panel.
- Material: Co-extruded, multi-wall polycarbonate rigid thermoplastic wall light. Kingspan Day-Lite products
fully satisfy the requirements of the National Building Regulations achieving Euro Class B internally and
National Class AA and Euro Class BROOF(t4) externally. Kingspan Day-Lite Architectural achieves a
classification of B-s2,d0 when tested to EN 13501-1: 2007.Cover width: 1000mm, multi-wall polycarbonate
thickness 38mm.
- Panel thickness: 80mm (38mm polycarbonate + aluminium extrusion, depth to suit adjacent panel thickness).
- Colours: Kingspan Day-Lite.
 Male / female joint sealant:
- Factory applied weather seal set in rebate.
- Kingspan AWP filler and low modulus polycarbonate compatible seal, site applied at the end of each panel
where flashings pass over the joint.
- Bridging seal across panel joint in line with AWP filler and internal air seal to be polycarbonate compatible
non-setting gun-grade sealant.
 Vertical joints:
- Type: Option A with recessed top-hat flashing and insert with 4mm diameter butyl rubber sealant.
- Colours: Kingspan Day-Lite, as per external face of panels.
- PIR insulation board.
- Vertical panel joint to have VJ2 EPDM 95mm x 10mm self-adhesive air seal bubble gasket applied to vertical
supporting steelwork and lapped over drip flashing.
 Fasteners: As determined by clause 220A.
 Number and location:
- For wall light: As determined by clause 197A, but with each wall lite fixed to each support using not less than
one fastener at panel ends and two fasteners at intermediate supports, located through tongue section, as
recommended by cladding manufacturer.
- For panel bearers: Fix each one using two fasteners.
- For vertical top-hat fix to vertical support at 500mm centres.
 Accessories:
- Profile fillers as clause 300A.
- Panel bearers, maximum 1500mm centres, located in positions recommended by cladding manufacturer to
support the bottom row of horizontally laid Kingspan Day-Lite Architectural wall lights.

 Thermal transmittance (U-value) of 1.3W/m²K calculated using the method required by the Building
Regulations Part L2 (England and Wales) and Building Standards Section 6 (Scotland).
- Manufacturers 25 year structural and thermal guarantee required.
- Air leakage rate of 3m3/hr/m2 at 50Pa, based on the assumption that the full building envelope is constructed
using Kingspan panels.
 Other requirements:
- Internal face of Kingspan Day-Lite Architectural to be air sealed along the full length by an unbroken 6mm
diameter bead of polycarbonate compatible gun grade sealant
- Factory made pre-formed corner Kingspan Day-Lite Architectural.
- Manufacturers 25 year product guarantee to be available on project completion and be fully transferrable for
future changes of building ownership.
- PVC barrier tape applied between aluminium spacer and cold rolled cladding rails to prevent a bi-metallic
corrosion.
- Panels manufactured under the following ISO standards: ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental),
OHSAS 18001 (Health & Safety) and ISO 50001 (Energy).
- Cladding contractor to attend a product training course at Kingspan Insulated Panels.

 Determine the number and location of cladding fasteners recommended by the cladding manufacturer to resist
wind loads calculated in accordance with BS 6399: Part 2 Standard Method and BS 5427: Part 1.
 Calculate wind loads on roof and wall cladding appropriate to location, exposure, roof height, building shape
and size in accordance with BS 6399: Part 2 Standard Method and BS 5427: Part 1.

- Washer material: Non-ferrous.

 Fasteners for vertical joint flashings / trims: As panel fasteners.
 Fasteners for panel bearers: As panel fasteners but with 15mm diameter washers.









polycarbonate compatible gun grade sealant, site applied between flashing and panel.
