All Calgarians should have equal access to City
programs, services, facilities and public spaces, but cost
is a barrier for some. These programs and services are
available at reduced prices to households with income
below Statistics Canada Low Income Cut-Off (LICO)
rates. Some are subject to additional eligibility criteria.
Now, with the Fair Entry application process, approved
applicants are advised of all fee assistance programs
available to them without having to prove their income
level again.
Recreation
Financial assistance is available for low-income
homeowners who experience an increase in their property
tax. People who qualify for this program also receive a
rebate on City waste and recycling fees.
Calgarians in financial need can qualify for Recreation’s
Fee Assistance program to maintain a healthy, active and
creative lifestyle. The program offers reduced program
rates, reduced admissions to City-run swimming pools,
golf courses and leisure centres, and additional discounts
from 14 participating organizations.
