B Start-Up Boot Camp – February 2016
Paul Adams - Entrepreneur in Residence
Paul is an entrepreneur and business mentor with a varied
background in the public, private and third sectors. Paul has been
involved in a wide number of business projects and uses his
entrepreneurial knowledge and start-up experience to assist
students and recent graduates at the University of Birmingham.
Michael McLeod - University of Birmingham Entrepreneur
Michael is currently taking time out of his MSc in Integrative Physiology
at the University of Birmingham to concentrate on his company
UniGreenScheme. Michael recognised an opportunity one day when he
saw discarded items in University skips on campus which he believed
would be of considerable value in the used goods market. Rather than
going to landfill, Michael was able to resell the goods with the
departments consent whilst improving the impact on the environment.
James Eder - University of Birmingham alumni Entrepreneur
In 2005, James Eder founded website Student Beans aged 22,
alongside his brother Michael. 10 years later Student Beans
has gone from an idea to brand, recognised globally for its
student offers and discounts. Now known as The Beans
Group, the business encompasses Hexjam, a leading lifestyle
website for 16-24s and Voxburner, a youth insights
consultancy. The company employs a team of over 40 people
and continues to recruit and grow.

questions. The most effective learners are those who keep asking the questions.
