Team Rules and Expectations

Brookfield Central Girls Volleyball
Team Rules
- All athletes are expected to ride the team bus to/from all competitions. Any
exception to this policy should be cleared by communication with a coach 24
hrs. in advance.
- Cell phones are only to be used for emergency purposes on the bus and in the
gym. The intent of this rule is to create a safe and interactive social environment
for our athletes when we are together as a team/program. Athletes will be
allowed to call for rides as the bus departs on the return trip to BC.
- Support your teammates at all times. Negative attitudes or comments directed
at teammates and/or coaches will not be tolerated and could be grounds for
dismissal from the team.
- Playing time is not guaranteed, but earned in practices; more at the varsity level,
less at the freshman level. We expect the players and parents to accept the
decisions of the coaching staff regarding playing time while remaining
supportive of the team.
- The coaching staff will not discuss any issues of playing time for a period of 24
hours after the completion of a match/tournament.
- Players who are unexcused from a practice may not play in the next match. It is
also expected that to play in a match you’ve attended practice the night
before. An athlete must be in attendance at school the entire day on days of
competition in order to be eligible to compete.
o Unexcused Absences include but are not limited to: Homework, “too
tired”, work, etc.
o Excused Absences may include: Illness, injury, religious obligations, family
emergencies
- Varsity players are expected to be in the gym to support the JV/Frosh teams
while they are competing and vice versa.
- Players are expected to travel in team issued apparel/warm-ups. Additionally
the team should walk into an event as a team and when not competing be
seated together as a team.
- Players are responsible for bringing their own water/sports drink to the team
bench. Parents will not be allowed to the bench during competition
- Net setup/takedown is the responsibility of the players
- The med kit and warm-up balls should be transported to all away events and this
is the responsibility of the players
- Make responsible decisions away from the volleyball court. The athletic code will
be strictly enforced. Don’t let a bad decision ruin the season for you or your
teammates!
