Beginning To Play an Orchestral Instrument Get ready to play in the FRCS Beginner Orchestra. Learn how to play the musical instrument of your choice for 5 weeks. Circle your choice below! Orchestral instruments will be offered during the summer. You will play in a small group with other students, working and learning together with others. The course will culminate with a short concert‐performance for parents and family . We’ll learn how to play an orchestral instrument well enough to be able to play in the FRCS Beginning Orchestra in September. Make beautiful music. Show off your skill on your instrument! At the end of our 5 week session, you'll know how to assemble and take care of your new instrument, how to play a scale and several songs. You’ll automatically be accepted into the Beginner Orchestra when you come back to school in September if you take this course. Grade Level: entering 4th Grade in September 2015. Lesson Times and Dates: The course runs July 6 to Aug 7. Two Lessons per week. Students must have an instrument by day 1 of the program. To make this easier, FRCS will provide rental instruments which students must sign up for at least 2 weeks prior to beginning of the first lesson. All lessons will be three times weekly. Brass includes trumpet or trombone. Strings include violin, viola, cello and string bass. Woodwinds are either flute or clarinet. Drums include bells and drums. Maximum Attendance: Class Limit 20 per each instrument group (i.e., Brass). Minimum (1) one. Students pay $150 for the whole session. Students must have a copy of the Essential Elements the music teaching method book which students must have on the first day of the class. Books can be purchased on instrument pickup day, from Mark from Mockingbird, who will bring books for you on June 16 between 2:45‐3:45p. Students must sign up for the complete session.
