Large Band class
Students may feel overwhelmed during
the first two months of school
Students are encouraged to seek extra
help to catch up on skills necessary to
handle the band repertoire.
Helpful resources are available on the
internet and in the RDMS music room.
Instruments





Students responsible for all supplies necessary
for their individual instrument
Instruments need to be in good working
condition at all times
Percussionists should have a drum pad or snare
drum & sticks to practice on.
All instrument cases must be labeled with
student name
Student needs to be prepared with instrument
on all band and lesson days.

Lessons
Students will have a small group lesson
roughly once every 24 school days.
 Students will have lengthy assignments to
cover the long interim between lessons.
 Students are required to bring their
Rubank or Fresh Approach to the Snare
Drum books and other supplementary
materials to lessons.

Practicing
Practicing breeds success!!!!
 Students should practice 30 minutes per
day, five days a week
 Set reasonable practice goals. A little time
on the instrument is better than none!
 Private lessons can really make the
difference! A wonderful investment in
learning. Contact Mrs. Zintel for teacher
recommendations.


 Auditions February 1, 2014
 Band students across the Northern New
Jersey area grades 7-9 are eligible
 Rehearsals and performance take place in
February/March 2014


Concerts
After school rehearsals in
November/December – All students are
expected to be present
 7th & 8th Grade Bands Combine for one
musical selection at each concert
 Two evening concerts

December 12th and May 15th
