Global supplier of Electronic Design Automation

Global supplier of Electronic Design Automation software
to design, verify and manufacture electronic systems.
EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY
MISSION
AND VISION
POLYTEDA is a global supplier of Electronic
Design Automation (EDA) software to design,
verify and manufacture electronic systems.
Our mission is to deliver the best customer
satisfaction in the EDA market.
Established in 2005 and headquartered in
Toronto, Canada, POLYTEDA specializes in
physical verification solutions, enabling
IDMs, fabless companies and foundries to
predictably meet their design, manufacturing
and marketing deadlines.
The development of nanometer design
technologies has produced a need for
increasingly sophisticated verification rules.
We provide technologies that enable our
customers to access the value in the newer
process nodes by removing the restrictions
imposed by previous generations of
verification tools and methodologies.
COMPANY HISTORY
POLYTEDA’s management team has a long tenure in IT and EDA. The company builds its
strength both on solid Eastern European legacy of EDA, utilizing the best professionals
around the globe. The company was co-founded in 2005 by two ex-USSR defence complex EDA
professionals: Vlad Marchuk and Igor Lopanenko, with combined 55 years of EDA experience.
A well known Eastern European venture investor Eugene Utkin provided initial support to
POLYTEDA, and then he became POLYTEDA’s main investor. In 2010, POLYTEDA’s Board of
Directors was enhanced by experienced EDA and semiconductor IP professionals, namely
Alex Lutsenko, Howard Pakosh and Randy Smith.
As a transnational corporation, POLYTEDA is supported by its strong engineering team located
in the Eastern Europe. It is further enhanced by engineering and sales professionals all over
the world.
MANAGEMENT
VLAD MARCHUK
PRESIDENT, CEO AND FOUNDER OF POLYTEDA
Vlad Marchuk has more than 20 years of experience in the EDA industry. In 1991 he
co-founded OTTO Software. The company developed a physical verification system
for IC circuits. In March 2003, Cadence Design System acquired OTTO Software. Post
acquisition, Vlad stayed with Cadence as a Senior Engineering Manager. He then undertook the role of Director of Research and Development for Electronics Workbench,
where he drove the development of schematic capture, simulation, and PCB tools.
Electronics Workbench was later acquired by National Instruments. Vlad graduated
from Kiev Polytechnic University in 1988 with a Master of Science degree in CAD
engineering.
IGOR LOPANENKO
CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER AND CO-FOUNDER OF POLYTEDA
Igor Lopanenko has more than 35 years of experience in the EDA industry. Together
with Vlad Marchuk, he co-founded the OTTO Software Company. After acquisition of
the company by Cadence Design Systems and up until May 2006, Igor worked as a
Senior Application Architect in Cadence Design Systems. Previously he held senior
software design positions for former USSR defence semiconductor companies. In
this capacity he developed a wide range of internal design tools, including IC layout,
parasitic extraction and physical verification technologies. Igor graduated from Kiev
Polytechnic University in 1974 with Masters degree in Electronic Engineering.
BRAD O’CONNELL
VICE PRESIDENT SALES AND MARKETING
Brad O’Connell has been successfully selling design automation tools, design services
and IP consulting services to major semiconductor companies around the world since
1997. Prior to joining POLYTEDA, he was a valued sales leader at Synopsys, Intrinsix
Corp. and Semiconductor Insights. Before entering the semiconductor industry, Brad
held progressively more responsible sales and product management roles in the telecom industry. He began his career as a test engineer for Bell Northern Research in
1989. Brad holds a degree in Economics from Carleton University and an Electronics
Technology Diploma from Algonquin College, in Ottawa, Canada.
PRODUCTS
PowerDRC and PowerLVS are the industry’s first truly scalable physical
verification solutions. Leveraging a unique data model and revolutionary algorithms, these products realize affordable distributed processing
of DRC and LVS. With this technology and the right number of processors,
virtually any design can be physically verified in a few hours.
PowerDRC was architected to address physical verification issues in all IC designs, and especially for today’s nanometer process nodes—45 nm and below.
It is driven by a flexible, easy-to-learn and use language, ExactCheck™ and a
powerful DRC engine, designed to tackle the needs of the latest nanometer
process technologies. It fits into current flows allowing easy migration from
existing physical verification systems.
ExactCheck allows today’s complex rules and checks to be easily mapped into
the system, eliminating the fear of over and under-checking, so prevalent in
today’s verification flows. It offers the capacity and speed to handle today’s
largest designs, while meeting foundries’ accuracy needs.
PowerDRC offers unparalleled single CPU performance that is also deterministic in terms of runtimes for any style of layout. With a scalable multi-CPU configuration, performance and capacity far exceed other DRC tools.
PowerLVS is designed to compliment PowerDRC, and is driven by the same,
flexible, easy-to-learn and use language, ExactCheck and a powerful LVS engine. The engine supports a variety of comparison algorithms. It is designed
to determine on the fly the best algorithm to use for a given layout. To achieve
better comparison, the system is designed to automatically switch back and
forth between algorithms.
Debugging analysis is powered by a built-in LVS debug manager, which is designed to work with any 3rd party schematic or layout viewer integrated with
the LVS engine. The viewers supported by PowerLVS include Virtuoso™ from
Cadence, Analog Office™ from AWR, and Laker™ from Springsoft.
