Lessons learnt
Certified on 15th September 2010
The WFQA was set up by IrBEA and an industry representative
committee. The applicant must conform to the rules set out in NWA
(National Workshop Agreement) 4:2009. NWA’s are not a legal
standard from the outset, they are an industry/stakeholder agreed
standard which can become a legal standard after the period of 5
years in operation. Applicants are certified by the National Standards
Authority of Ireland, testing is carried out by Waterford Institute of
Technology.
Improvement of customer service. Raises profile of products. Gives
USP to company in the first instance and first mover advantage.
Certification body has learned the need to have ample support for
applicants as the industry personel tends to concentrate on the
physical work rather than spending time on desktop duties. Reduction
of desktop duties required by the applicant is seen as key to rolling out
the scheme.
Company has learned the need for good stock management and good
sampling and testing techniques
