Our Minimum Energy Efficiency Training.

Minimum Energy Efficiency Training.
What it is, how it will affect you and how we can help you.
Who are we?
• Solvo Vir is an innovative training provider providing sector-specific training and
apprenticeships to organisations and individuals across the UK.
• The training we have come to speak to you about is a part of the Government's Skills
Support for the Workforce program and is co-funded by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) and
the European Social Fund (ESF).
• All our programmes are planned and run by Domestic Energy Assessors (DEA’s) making each
course practical, up-to-date and engaging. Carefully-planned content addresses skills
shortages within the housing and energy industry, helping employers improve their business
performance.
• We manage the entire process from sourcing funding to certification delivery.
What Is MEES?
• The Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards is a new legislation passed
in 2015 meaning that a Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES)
will be imposed on both domestic and commercial properties in the
Private Rental Sector (PRS) as of the 1st of April 2018.
• The legislation means that any new rentings of a property will have to
have a minimum EPC rating of an E.
• By 2020 this minimum rating will also apply for a existing rented
properties.
The stages of MEES.
• The first instalment of the legislation means that any new renting
agreement for a property will have to have a minimum EPC rating of an E.
• By 2020 this minimum rating will also apply for a existing rented
properties.
• By 2025 the government is looking to increase this minimum rating from an
E to a D.
• By 2030 the government is looking to increase the minimum rating from a
D to a C.
It will be unlawful to not comply to the minimum standards at any stage of
the legislation. This means that landlords will need to make necessary
changes before April 1st 2018.
What penalties could you face?
Failure to comply with the minimum rating is unlawful and therefore
could land you with a fine or penalty.
As a landlord, if you are found to be renting a property under the
minimum rating you could be fined up to £5000 for domestic and
£150,000 for non-domestic properties!
Why are we here?
• We are here to promote our fully funded Minimum Energy Efficiency
Standards (MEES) course, designed for Landlords, DEA’s and other
Property Professionals.
• We will provide advice and guidance on how to prepare for the
introduction of the new legislation directly, as well as exploring the
surrounding topic of improving your homes EPC rating and energy
efficiency.
• This course will show you areas of funding available for making the
necessary changes.
