Press Release Number One in Sustainability and Culture Stuttgart leads the ratings as a congress destination The congress destination of Stuttgart is becoming increasingly competitive and attractive as conference and congress region. The latest surveys confirm that the congress destination of Stuttgart can pride itself as being Germany's most sustainable metropolis and topping the list of Germany's cities of culture. The congress destination of Stuttgart convinces in the current city ratings not just in one, but in two fields. A survey conducted by the magazine "Wirtschaftswoche" (June 2012) confirmed Stuttgart's leading position as Germany's most sustainable city – and thus also the congress destination with the highest degree of sustainability. In the overall rankings of the WirtschaftsWoche Sustainable City Indicator (WWSCI), Stuttgart achieves higher-than-average results among Germany's 50 largest cities in every category (economic strength, environment, human capital, social affairs, energy and transport, and transparency and commitment). In the Stuttgart region event organisers can find countless congress venues and hotels which are deeply concerned with the theme of sustainability, hold certification to this effect or have already implemented sustainability strategies. These include, for example, the ICS International Congress Center Stuttgart / Messe Stuttgart, the Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Liederhalle (Culture & Congress Centre), the congress centres Filderhalle, Filharmonie, Neckar Forum, CC Stadtgarten, the Parkhotel Stuttgart Messe-Airport, Mövenpick Hotel StuttgartAirport, Pullmann Stuttgart Fontana, Le Méridien Stuttgart and many more besides. As a forerunner, Stuttgart Airport has for many years now also committed itself to the protection of the environment. Numerous events in the region are organised on the theme of sustainability, some of which are realised completely in accordance with sustainability criteria, including CO2 compensation.
