Welcome to the K2 Nature Centre Cycle Challenge
The challenge is to ride from Shi Ding to our nature centre as fast as you can. The course is about 6.5km in length
with an elevation gain of approx. 400m. (To be updated.) It’s almost all uphill and all on (relatively) quiet roads. We
have detailed instructions on how to get to the start and the exact position of both the start line and finish line. The
challenge shall be self-timed from a rolling start. After finishing the challenge, riders are welcomed to enter their
statistics into the log book that will be held at the café of K2 Nature Centre. Don’t worry if you don’t have a heart
monitor or you don’t want to enter all the information. It’s entirely up to you what you wish to record.
As a once keen cyclist, I’ve been looking for a way to encourage myself to get into shape again and this was the initial
motive for setting this challenge. Another motive is obviously to increase the popularity of the nature centre while
promoting healthy and environmentally-friendly leisure activities, but I also hope that this challenge will give me the
opportunity to make lots of like-minded friends and form a cycling club based on rides around this area.

How to get there:
From Taipei Zoo, take the 106 乙 road (starts off as XinGuang Rd. sect 2) towards ShiDing. Follow this road for about
7 or 8km. After you pass the ShiDing service area on your left, you will come to a large junction where you will turn
right just after the highway sliproads.
Turn right here.
Follow this road until you come to a small climb and a junction with a 7-11 on the right. Turn right here and then go
through this tunnel
After going through the tunnel, ride for about 2km until you arrive at ShiDing village:
Follow the road round to the right at this
junction and cross the small bridge. Keep
following the road out of the village and pass
under the highway flyover. After about another
2km, you will turn right onto a new, small bridge:

Continue on until you see this junction:
The start line is visible just as you get to the
corner!
The Finish:
As you come round the final corner, you will
see the sign for K2 Nature Center which has
been painted on the wall. The finish line is
just to the left of this sign, just as you come
off the main road and enter the car park.
