Dear Governor Snyder,
Corix Utility Systems is a utility service provider based with over 70 years of experience providing Utility
Companies with a vast array of meter and electrical distribution services. Our organization has partnered
with Consumers Energy to install over 1.5 million smart gas and electric meters in the state of Michigan. We
have locations in Kalkaska, Grand Rapids Lansing and Bridgeport Michigan. At each location we have
approximately 40 plus installers upgrading analog gas and electric meters to the digital smart meters. To
accomplish this goal we need to employ many installers and our Bridgeport Michigan location is our
flagship location with over 120 installers. We have been able to meet this recruiting challenge at our
Bridgeport, Michigan location in a large part due to the outstanding teamwork approach by the by the GST
Michigan Works team located in Flint Michigan. I would like to specifically mention Lucy Strachota our
Business Services Representative. She has done an outstanding job of coordinating and promoting our
recruitment career fairs.
We held our last career fair in Flint on 11/12/2015 and we have conducted 3 additional career fairs in
nearby Saginaw, MI and Lucy Strachota has done a great job of referring quality applicants to our
organization. I have worked with various State Workforce centers all across the United States and I must
say that the GST Michigan Works in Flint is a top performer. We consistently have 200+ attendees at each
career fair event.
Lucy Strachota and her team has also assisted us with increasing our employment of veterans and our
veteran outreach efforts. During the open interviews the entire staff at the service center was very
accommodating; as applicants could apply on line for our open positions in the service center during the
career fairs.
Having a working partnership with GST Michigan Works helps us recruit quality candidates for Corix Utility
Services. We are very pleased to let you know that the events were very successful and we will be looking
forward to using Michigan Works and its resources again in the future.
