RAP 400
RECYCLED RUBBER PROTECTION MEMBRANE
DESCRIPTION
RAP-400 is a performance based protection
membrane derived from recycled tire
crumb rubber providing sustainability over
traditional asphalt based protection layer
products. Also, RAP-400 provides exceptional
protection properties as well as water barrier
performance. The membrane bonds firmly to
the top surface of the hot applied rubberized
asphalt waterproofing membrane and
provides watertight seams with application
of additional hot-applied rubberized asphalt
material in the seams.
RAP-400 is a durable 30-mil (0.75 mm) thick
rubber membrane protection material that is
reinforced with a fabric layer for high tensile
strength.
INSTALLATION
With hot rubberized asphalt: After the top
coat of rubberized asphalt waterproofing
membrane has cooled to below 200o F
(93o C), apply RAP-400 directly to top surface
of the rubberized asphalt waterproofing
membrane with the fabric layer side down.
The rubberized asphalt membrane surface
should be clean and dry. Install RAP-400 with
all membrane edges overlapped a minimum
3” (75 mm) and adhered tight with layer of
hot rubberized asphalt membrane without
fish mouths or separation. Cut to tightly fit
around pipe penetrations and other details.
Then apply counter flashing of hot-rubberized
asphalt membrane to seal detail.
PACKAGING
RAP-400 is supplied in lightweight rolls
measuring 3-feet by 67-feet (914 mm x 20.4
m) for a total membrane area of 201 square
feet (18.7 sq m). Weighing only 43 lbs. (19.5
kg) per roll, the product is significantly lighter
than asphalt protection membranes making it
easier to handle and apply.
LEEDTM
RAP-400 is made from an exceptionally high
percentage of recycled material and is 100%
recyclable making it a “green”, earth-friendly
product. Its high post-consumer recycled
content makes it the perfect product to specify
for LEED™ projects.
With other applications: Overlap membrane
edges minimum 3” (75 mm) without fish
mouths or separation and secure into place
with washer head fasteners or applicable nonpenetrating means.
