Management Lead
The Transport Sourcing and Carrier Management Lead is responsible for the
successful execution of sourcing strategies that leverage the purchasing power
of ABB and which enable the TMC to achieve the respective performance
targets (cost and delivery) for the Transportation & Logistics categories in
scope. The position holder will actively lead the design and compilation of
category procurement initiatives in close collaboration with key stakeholders
and provides specialist input to the regional category strategies. The following
spend areas are under the management of the position holder; 5CC Road
Freight Transportation, 5CD Express Transportation. The job holder is also
responsible for the strategic sourcing of 5CF Project and Heavy Lift Transport;
however, the actual, project-specific procurement of project and heavy lift
transport services is out of scope and will be handled by the Project & Heavy
Lift Team. All categories cover the scope of operations of the respective TMC.

Tasks
- Sourcing Strategy - Leveraging the Continuous Improvement Process Sourcing (CIPS) process, implements effective sourcing
strategies in line with business strategy ensuring that the supply base/suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and
future business requirements. Performs market analysis, track trends in pricing and supply dynamics for the countries in scope of
operation of the TMC;
- Procurement - Manages and conducts procurement activities using ABB’s standard’s procurement tools. Minimizes risk regarding
quality and financial exposure by buying in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and in accordance with Company
guidelines.;
- Negotiation - Negotiates agreements with approved suppliers, and periodically renews price lists, terms and conditions;

- Contracts – Adapts corporate contractual framework to reflect the local business needs and regulations. Recommends frame
agreements to management, and executes upon approval. Provides ongoing oversight and contract management with suppliers;
- Supplier Agreements – Ensures identification, investigation, and selection of appropriate suppliers (focusing on quality, delivery, cost
and sustainability) in accordance with Company policies. Defines and establishes local standard agreements with all major suppliers.
Provides and maintains standard terms in purchase contracts/terms and conditions in line with Company directives and guidelines;
- Special programs – Designs and implements cost-out programs and/or processes to reach financial targets;
- Business continuity – Applies and implements SCM standards, tools, and processes focused on business continuity for the assigned
groups of commodities;
- Budgets and Performance Targets – Contributes to, and participates in setting and implementing budget and Targets within the
framework. Ensures the Category sourcing performance targets are achieved;
- Supply Base and Performance Management – Conducts regular supplier performance reviews and ensures that operational
performance targets are met. Actively manages improvement initiatives when/where required. Supports Regional Quarterly Business
Review process;
- People Leadership and Development – Where required, ensures that the sourcing function is properly organized, staffed, skilled and
directed. Guides, motivates and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies and Group Supply Chain Management
excellence guidelines (knowledge management, functional training, etc.).
Requirements
- Minimum of University Degree in related field and/or
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Strategic sourcing of Transportation and Logistics services
- Strong analytical and strategic planning skills
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Substantial understanding in contractual law governing Transportation and Logistics
- Highly motivated; results oriented; able to learn quickly
- Constructively questions and challenges assumptions
- Attention to detail; organized
- Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word skills. Knowledge of MS Access Database and/or SQL programming desirable.

conversion factors)
- Extensive experience in Tender Management especially using “on-line” sourcing tools
- Ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously and perform under pressure
- Highly motivated; willing to put in extra effort to get the job done
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Team-oriented individual
- Comfortable working with legal and contractual terms and language
