JULY 2016 NEWSLETTER COPY WINNERS DUNSTAN TRAINERS’ MAIDEN NZ AWARD FOR MAY & JUNE 2016 The race chosen for May was from Pukekohe Park, held on 6th May, The winner of the Maiden 3YO race - the Counties Power 1400m was Bao Shan Magic, trained by Pukekohe based, Nigel Tiley. The race selected for June was the Tavenier Howard 1600m Maiden Highweight run at the Otaki-Maori meeting at Otaki on Friday 24th June. The winner was Red Fox, trained by Kevin Gray from Palmerston North. NZTA MEMBERSHIP 2016/17 At all branch AGM’s held last year a unanimous decision was reached that the NZTA should adopt the current Harness Racing structure for membership and funding. This was further ratified unanimously at the NZTA AGM held on 7th August 2015. As a result of this resolution all licence holders will automatically become members of the NZTA from August 1st 2016 at no extra cost to their licence fee. Should any trainer choose to opt out of membership, they are welcome to do so. However, they will not receive newsletters or any of the many exclusive benefits of NZTA membership. Also, as there is now no subscription fee, there will be no refund. Funding of the NZTA is provided by way of a fixed sum grant from NZTR as NZTR recognise the importance of having a professionally run independent and proactive Association in place to represent the interests of thoroughbred racehorse trainers. . MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH NZTR A Memorandum of Understanding has been agreed between NZTR and the New Zealand Trainers’ Association including the following outcomes: 1. NZTR to provide financial stability for the NZTA, through the provision of a fixed funding grant. 2. The NZTA will provide membership and services at no charge.to all licensed trainers who elect to be a member of the NZTA. 3. NZTR will support the NZTA to be a financially solid, unbiased and independent representative body able to function in the best interests of the New Zealand thoroughbred racing industry. 4. The NZTA will continue to operate as an independent body. NZTA WEBSITE Templates for Employment contracts and Training contracts with owners are available on the website.
