Office 365 Parent/Guardian Consent Form
South East Cornerstone Public School Division #209 now provides all eligible students with a division email
account through cloud-based Office 365. Through the Microsoft Student Advantage program, students have
both school and home access to key Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,
and OneNote. These important tools are available as web-based apps, mobile apps for smartphones and
tablets, and may also be downloaded and installed at home on up to 5 PCs or Macs. In addition all students
have 1 TB of free OneDrive cloud storage. Each student will have their own secure login and password to
access their email and files.
In order to provide this service to our students, student names and schools will be disclosed to Microsoft
Office 365 for Education who hosts this service. No additional personal information, including personal
addresses or phone numbers, will be released. This account information, as well as emails and any content
stored in OneDrive, will be stored on secured servers outside of Canada, specifically in the United States. While
stored outside the country, information in your child’s Office 365 account may be subject to the laws of foreign
jurisdictions. Microsoft supports compliance with the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic
Documents Act. Additional information regarding Microsoft’s policies on data security and privacy is available
online at the Office 365 Trust Center.
Parents and guardians wishing to opt out of this service may contact the Coordinator of Instructional
Technology regarding appropriate alternatives for student email services.
Consent
I understand that my child’s name and his/her school’s name will be disclosed to Microsoft Office 365 for Education,
stored and accessed from outside of Canada, specifically the United States, for the purposes outlined above. Further, I
understand that my child’s use of Office 365 will be used for school-appropriate purposes and be in full compliance with
the South East Cornerstone Public School Division’s Acceptable Use Policies as described by Administrative Procedure
140.
This consent will be considered valid from the date on which it is signed until the student named below is no longer a
student within South East Cornerstone Public School Division.
