What is Whiteparish 100+ Club?
It's a club which raises funds for the Memorial Trust. It has been going for well over 25 years, and typically raises over
£2,000 for the Trust each year. But it's also a bit of fun! We give back over 40% of our income in prizes. Very little goes
on administration: about £40 per year to cover paper and printing, membership cards, envelopes and postage.
Our new Memorial Centre has been very successful to date. The financing of the new building was greatly assisted by the
funds raised over the years by the club. The 100+ Club, in providing a source of fundraising to support the running of
the Trust, helps keep hire costs down and allows the Trustees to fund other important renewals and improvements to the
other facilities such as the childrens’ play area, MUGA, car park and field.
What benefits does membership bring?
Well, there's the warm glow of satisfaction from knowing you’re supporting village facilities. In addition, there's the
chance to win prizes in our monthly and Christmas draws (see below).
How much does it cost to join?
A year's membership costs £15. For this, you buy one number which is entered into twelve monthly draws (from June to
the following May) and also into an extra draw at Christmas.
Can I have more than one number?
Yes! Some households have two numbers, and some have three, four or even more.
What are the prizes?
As in previous years, we will aim to have 10 winners in each draw, returning over 40% of the club's income as prizes. The
exact number and size of prizes will vary with the number of members: more member’s means more paid out in prizes
and more money raised towards the Memorial Centre. We will work out the number and size of prizes each year, based
on the number of paid-up members in the club.
For example, over the last ten years, we've averaged 220 members per year. If we continue to have 220 members paying
£15 each, we will be able to pay out at least £1,300 in prizes during the year, and will also raise £2,000 or so towards the
Memorial Centre, play area, MUGA etc.
How is the draw done?
Most months, the draw takes place in a local pub. But at Christmas, we try to organise a 100+ Club Christmas Social
evening in the Memorial Centre. We carry out the December and Christmas draws at this social evening, at which there is
generally also a light supper, some music, a bar, a light-hearted quiz and a raffle. The Christmas Social often also raises a
further significant amount towards the Trust’s facilities.
How will I know if I've won?
Keep a look out for the results in Steeple & Street and the village website each month. And if you have won, you should
receive an envelope with your winnings shortly after the draw has taken place. You can chose to have your prize paid
directly into your bank account if you opt to pay by annual standing order – both of which help to reduce our
administration costs.
Sounds great! How do I join?
Just complete the slip on the back of this leaflet and return it to us in an envelope (a recycled one is fine) with your cheque
payable to Whiteparish Memorial Trust or cash. We'll issue you with your numbers either at the fete, if you're there
(come over to our stand), or we'll drop them round to you, so you know what your numbers are.
It's as simple as that. Good luck!
