On whether his approach has changed due to Carolina’s new secondary
“Nothing, it’s the same thing, just go in a try to win on every play I get. I’m going to try do whatever I can to try to help my team

“I think that’s the main focus, getting the win. We played them the last game; we’re playing them the first game. I think right
now, it’s getting our team ready for that game, to get that win and then on to the next one.”

“I’m very excited. I think the whole group is excited. We all were able to be together this offseason with OTAs and minicamp. We
weren’t able to do that last year. Everybody is getting better and better every week. I’m excited about it. I think they’re going to

“That’s been big. To be able to go out, get more repetitions, get the timing down, it’s been big for us.”
On the progression of his timing with Siemian
“It’s good. It’s really not much, he’s not overthrowing much or nothing like that. It’s kind of been good.”
On Siemian’s ability to make game-time adjustments
“He’s a smart kid. He’s been playing the game, but he hasn’t played in the NFL. It’s a little different. He has a lot of guys on the
offensive side of the ball and the defensive side of the ball that has his back. We trust him to make the right call and whatever
call that will be we are going to do our best to make it work.”
On if he will seek Siemian out prior to the start of the game
“There’s no reason to do that. He’s been playing the game too long. You tend to do that to some players that get nervous. I’m
just going to let him be himself.”
On being named offensive captain
“It means a lot. This group of guys are my teammates, my brothers. From the coaches to everybody who made me the offensive
captain, this is a big step from last year, but I think I’ll do a great job. I’m a different type of leader, but I look forward to it.”
On whether he will change his leadership style
“I can’t change it up. There’s no reason to change it up now. I’ve been doing it for seven year and I was a captain before. I didn’t
have to be vocal much then. I’ll be a little vocal, but it’s the same as usual.”

On people who are skeptical of the offense
“The people say something every year. It’s something different every year for them, about our offenses, about our defenses or
about a player or a coach. It’s something different every year. We don’t pay attention to that. We just go out there and do our
job.”
On containing the hype in the locker room for this game
“I mean everybody is going to be hyped, of course. You have to contain it. You have to keep it down because it’s going to be
going so fast in the beginning. There’s going to be, hopefully not too many mistakes, but some mistakes. We just have to get
them calmed down and the whole team has to calm down and play ball.”
On Carolina having a chip on their shoulder for this game
“I think so. Any player on any team that went to the Super Bowl and lost to some guys has a chip on their shoulder. We are going
to have a chip on our shoulder as well, from both sides of the ball. A lot of people say we didn’t deserve the Super Bowl, so we’re
going to go out and play our best and do what we have to do to get the win.”
On Carolina’s rookie cornerbacks
“It’s tough because not only will the front seven keep you running a lot, but most times it’s a lot of zone, having done so much
man in the past couple of years. They are going to put them in good positions. They are going to be able to make plays and have
help underneath. I really don’t know what they are going to do. We are just going to go out and do whatever we have to do as an
offense.”
On Carolina WR Kelvin Benjamin
“He’s a big target on the field. He’s a big target. He can go down field and make any play. He’s the biggest receiver in the game, I
think. It’s going to be a battle with him. He’s a great player, I watched him in college. I liked him when he was in college. I’m
happy he’s back from the injury and I look forward to seeing him go out and play.”
On defenses challenging Siemian to throw
“I look forward to it. He’s talented. He can play. He’s mobile and he can throw the ball. I really don’t know what they’re going to
do because it’s his first game, first time being in the huddle as real game. We shall see once we get going. They might throw
some different things at him. I’m sure they’re going to play different than when they played us when we had [QB] Peyton
[Manning]. I look forward to it and I’m excited for it.”
On helping Siemian succeed in the game
“I can’t say much to him on game day. The only time I really sit down and talk to him is if we go on the field and have a threeand-out, I tell him what I see and he tells me what he sees. Then we have a look, so maybe next drive we can help it out and be
better. You just talk to him and make sure his comfortable leading up to the game. The way he’s been going so far he’s been the
same guy. He hasn’t been nervous or anything. That’s the main thing, getting those things we used to do last year and the year
before. Whatever you see on the field, go back and tell the quarterback so you can be on the same page.”
On if he can tell when a player is nervous
“You really can’t unless they tell you. I used to get nervous; I still get nervous. I don’t think people notice unless I tell them. I
really wouldn’t know.”
