Research the Publisher of the Product and the Product as a whole
What are the connotations behind the magazines strapline? What do they aim to
cover and/or provide their readers with?
Annotate the codes & conventions of this media product and the 2-pages you are
going to Produce (Front Cover and DPS) – for example for the Front Cover - where is
the masthead, strapline, cover lines, puff-promotion etc.
Connotations of the colours, language in certain conventions (Stapline, Masthead)
(See Task 4) – What iconography (Props) are presented on the pages to be
produced within your chosen sub-genre and do these ‘signify’ (De Saussure) to the
readership? YOU SHOULD investigate other areas not covered for 4 as well.
What is the Genre and what does is stereotypically provide it’s readers with? YOU
COULD research other products from the genre to see if they have ‘repeated’ (Steve
Neale – 1980) certain codes & conventions OR Iconography

going to be, what font style will I present this in, what is the “house style” of
the magazine going to be on a consistent basis, how often will the magazine
be sold and what ambitions do you have for the magazine (e.g is it going to
be a market leader OR is it going to battle to compete with other products
from the genre?)
Have I reelected on the needs of the target audience I have mind within my
Proposal? Who are my target audience? YOU COULD produce an Audience
Profile outlining who they are what they would stereotypically look like!
