All players must register and bring proof of entry and payment. 07h45: All players seated for round 1. 08h00: 1st Round Prizes 1. The first 3 players and best female player in each section will receive prizes. 2. There will be cash prizes to a total of R2000 handed out on the basis of discretion of the organisers, unless there are not enough entries. 3. The prize giving will be after the completion of the last round in each section. 4. There will be certificates for every player in Section C & D. 5. Prizes will not be shared; 6. No prizes will be awarded to any player who plays in the wrong section, whatever the reason for this may be; 7. The following tiebreak system will be used to determine winners in case of equal points: 1) Tournament Performance; 2) Bucholz Median System; 3) Sonneborn-Berger; 4) Number of wins. Tournament Arrangements 1. Players will be allowed to enter in a higher section; 2. The organisers reserve the right to merge or change division of the sections on the grounds of availability of space and the size of the sections; 3. The first 130 entries will be accepted; 4. Right of admission reserved; 5. No items may be sold or traded by any person other than those given permission by the tournament organizer in writing; 6. By your entry into this tournament you agree unconditionally to abide by all the rules and regulations; 7. The organizers of the tournament are not responsible for the safety of players or their property; 8. Players have to provide their own chess pieces and if possible, clocks. The organisers will provide the chess boards. Players who do not have clocks are also welcome to participate; 9. FIDE rules apply; 10. Tuck shop will be available. Chess equipment will be for sale. Registration process 1. Complete one registration form per player or the school form if a group of players register; 2. It will be each player’s responsibility to ensure that he/she appears on the players list; 3. Entries close at 12:00 on Thursday 3rd of December. 4. Players’ list will be available on www.sedchess.co.za on Friday 4th of December. If you are not on the players’ list, contact Wilna de Koster before Friday at 20h00; 5. Late entries will participate from the second round only; 6. Late entries will be limited to the availability of tables; 7.
