Class 5
Class 5 have been enjoying their new topic all about the Earth and beyond.
After launching to space in a rocket as part our topic beginning, we took
our learning outdoors in an attempt to represent the planets in our solar
system. In teams, we decided how we wanted to represent and order the
planets; once we understood the order and relative sizes of the planets, we
created some chalk drawings on black sugar paper. We have been keeping
up to date with the news also and discussed the ‘super moon’ when it
passed Earth a few weeks ago too!

Class 4
This half term, Class 4 has been learning about
rocks and rock formations. We compared and
grouped together different kinds of rocks based
on their appearance and simple physical
properties. We learned how a volcano is formed
and what happens when it erupts. We even
made our own volcano models and carried out
experiments to make them erupt. We used
washing up liquid and baking powder and when
we added some vinegar………. ‘POUFF’ the
volcano erupted !
We have also learned how fossils are formed
when things that have lived are trapped within
rock. We made our own fossils by pressing tiny
plastic dinosaurs into plasticine to make a mould.
We poured Plaster of Paris into the mould and
when it was set we pulled the ‘rock’ apart to
reveal our fossil!
Class 4 wishes you a Merry Christmas and a
Happy New Year.
Class 3
This term our core
book has been
'The Dark'.
We have written
the ending to the
story, made
predictions and
learnt about what
it is to make a
good friend! We
discussed how we
could help our
friends face their
fears and made
our own Class 3
friendship
bracelets!

Early Years
This half term we have worked very hard on our nativity called Toby’s Christmas Drum. We
have worked very hard to practise our lines, learn the songs and we even learnt to sign the
songs too. We have also had a visitor from the vicar too who told us the story of the
Nativity. She brought us a beautiful knitted nativity with all of the characters and we helped
her to act out the story too.
Class 2
Our topic this half term has been about space and Neil Armstrong. We loved learning about
him and why he went to the moon, it was very interesting! We even had our own space
station role play area in our classroom so we could pretend we were astronauts too! We
loved reading the story Beegu which was about an alien who lived in space he even visited
our school and left his spaceship in our classroom!

On the evening of
Wednesday 30th November
three of our school council
members went to Roberttown
School and met with other
school councils to decide on
what projects the district
committee should choose to
allocate money to, to support
their developments.
Our children spoke with confidence, careful thought and
listened to other
chidren's contributions very
well. We chose: Roberttown
Defribrilator, Hightown
Diggers, Library Service and
Gomersal Christmas tree
projects.
Thank you to parents for
allowing your children the
opportunity to take part in
this project.
The Hour of CODE
In school the children have all taken part in one hour of coding. This is an
international event that celebrates computer science. Millions of children and
adults around the world will spend one hour of their time coding.
Have a look at the resources on this website and take part with your child:
