The First Advising Meeting (FAM) is meant to welcome the student to the university! This
meeting should help the student to become orientated with their campus or center, and also to
position the student for success by ensuring their classes and program are properly enrolled.

• Confirm the student’s degree program
• Review DegreeWorks and the student’s course plan
• Review transcript information (if applicable)

FAM: TRANSCRIPTS REVIEW
• Review and display the number of credit hours required for their
chosen program
• Using ImageNow identify their transcript evaluation and determine
how many credits were able to be transferred into the student’s
degree program
• If the student has not turned in transcripts, but thinks they may
have applicable classes from another university, go through the
transcript request process.

• Ensure to continue to track additional transcript information that
may become available
• Remind students about registering early
• Demonstrate self-registration procedures
• Review the attendance policy and ensure the student knows the
importance of attending every class
• Provide the student with a reminder about the online component
of their course

Admissions will typically begin the registration process and all classes that
have been registered for should be verified by the SSA.
