The series, now in preparation, is to be published by the Walter de Gruyter Publishing
House (Berlin/New York). CEJL, the first series of its kind, is to produce historical and
theological commentaries which emphasize (1) the historical integrity of the Old
Testament “Apocrypha” and “Pseudepigrapha” and, where appropriate, (2) their
subsequent adaptation and use among Christian circles. CEJL is a 20-year project, and
the number of planned volumes during this period is 59. At present, 34 of the volumes
