COLLABORATION IN ASIA FOR 5G SPECTRUM Tuesday 28th June 2016 Asia, as a region, has been very active in promoting 5G technology. Both Korea and Japan announced their intention to showcase 5G in the upcoming Olympic events during 2018 and 2020 respectively. Alignment on spectrum from an early stage on deploying 5G globally will be equally important. During this workshop, there will be discussions focused on finding a common approach on spectrum bands for 5G at the next WRC-19 and also how suitable are the existing IMT bands (from WRC-15) for deployment of 5G services. There is a strong belief that common ground on spectrum for 5G from the region will have a positive impact and accelerate development and adoption of 5G technologies for both the region and at global level. 08.30-09.00 Registration and coffee OPENING KEYNOTES 09.00 – 09.10 GSMA Welcome Remarks GSMA - John Giusti, Chief Regulatory Officer 09.10 – 09.25 Opening Keynote: 5G in China MIIT – Xie Feibo, Director General, Radio Regulations Bureau 09.25 – 09.40 Opening Keynote: An industry view on 5G GTI - Huang Yuhong, Secretary General, GTI & Vice President, China Mobile Research Institute SESSION I: What role can existing IMT Spectrum play in 5G 09.40 – 10.30 PANEL SESSION with Audience discussion / sharing experiences Moderator: Herman Schepers, Senior Spectrum Director, GSMA Introduction WRC15 outcome and impact on 5G Huawei – Dr. Wan Lei, Head of Wireless Standard, Huawei Panel: - 10:30-10:45 MIC – Ms Kuniko Ogawa, Director for Land Mobile Communication Division NTT DoCoMo - Hiroyuki Atarashi, Director Qualcomm – Alex Orange, Director, Government Affairs KT – Soon Yong Kim, Director Corporate Relations Office COFFEE BREAK SESSION II: Challenges and opportunities with spectrum above 24GHz 10:45– 11.00 5G vision, characteristics and requirements GSA – Wang Hu, GSA Spectrum Group CJK Coordinator (Huawei) 11.00 – 11.50 PANEL SESSION with Audience discussion / sharing experiences Moderator: Verizon, Jaquelynn Ruff, VP – International Public Policy and.
