Dear SCEC 9th and 10th grade Parents and/or Guardians,
Beginning May 6th, 2013, I will be starting a unit in Health on Human Growth and Development (HGD)
that will last approximately 10 days. A portion of the HGD curriculum will cover the male and female
reproductive systems. The book contains diagrams for learning purposes and better understanding of
the anatomical and physiological aspects of the human body. Additionally, I will be addressing sexually
transmitted diseases and infections and how they can result from an individuals unhealthy decisions
and/or behaviors.
If you have questions or concerns about this curriculum, please feel free to contact me at
[email protected], or 547-7230. If you prefer to have your student work on other material in an
alternative setting during these hours, please contact me. Please sign and return the portion below by
May 3rd, 2012.
It is my desire to present this material in a forthright manner that gives our students the knowledge they
need about human reproduction and anatomy, while encouraging healthy and responsible decision
making. I will be encouraging students to speak with their parents as well for encouragement or
guidance, in order to avoid making hurtful or harmful choices in the future. Thanks for your support in
