1. Check whether you possess the following academic qualifications:
An accredited integrated MEng degree coupled with at least 4 years of approved training and responsible
experience.
or

An accredited BEng degree with honours in engineering or technology, together with an accredited or approved
masters degree, or appropriate further learning to masters level e.g. EA1 and EA2. Coupled with at least 4 years
of approved training and responsible experience.
or

The Technical Report Route TRR for mature candidates – separate guidelines are available on the IMMM website
and may vary from individual to individual.
2. Check to see whether your degree(s) is (are) accredited or not.

If your degree (s) is (are) not accredited (e.g. overseas degree holder) it is possible to submit your degree(s) for review
by IMMM.
3. Check whether your experience is sufficient to meet the competences required by completing the “COMPETENCE &
COMMITMENT CHECKLIST”
The membership staff at HQ in the UK can assist with determining if your degree or experience is sufficient, and can
advise on the most appropriate membership grade. They are willing to review your CV and will give their advice. They

4. Complete the application form and other supporting documents (please refer to “A GUIDE TO APPLICATION

Two Referee Forms
To be enclosed with your application, unless these have been sent directly by your referees to the Membership Department.
Referees must be of the same grade or higher than that for which you are applying (ie MIMMM or FIMMM).
Application Fee
The current amount is £131 for a new member and a reduced rate is available if you are upgrading your current membership.

5. Obtain minimum level of 5 days CPD per year from date of graduation. CPD should be recorded in a separate log
book. CPD guidelines are as follows:




Broadening technical expertise beyond initial specialisation.
Developing an awareness of issues such as environmental protection and health and safety.
Acquiring other professional skills, eg communications skills, interpersonal skills, management techniques, legal

6. Attend a Professional Review Interview, which will normally be conducted by at least two members of the Institute.
